August 17-20 - New Trail, Table Bluff Segment, Dane County - IAT Thank You! 

Thank you for being one of the amazing 185 volunteers who contributed a phenomenal three thousand five hundred and forty four hours (!!!!) crafting what will soon to be known as the ‘Table Bluff’ segment of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail.  When you return to walk it you will recognize something of yourself in every sweep and turn.  Wherever your path leads, you can always be proud of the part of you that remains in Cross Plains.   

The Ice Age Park and Trail Foundation extends our sincerest thanks to each of you, and to key donors including: REI (Madison), Culvers Frozen Custard (Middleton and Cross Plains), Pepsi Bottling (Madison), CUB Foods (Madison), Clausen’s Bakery (Middleton), Tanos Pizza (Cross Plains), Woodman’s (Madison), Saemans Lumber (Cross Plains), the Dane County Parks Department, Ice Age Park and Trail Foundation corporate sponsor David Hobbs Honda (Glendale), and Swamplovers, Inc.  Lastly, thank you to the Crew Leaders and Project Team members*,and the National Park Service and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for their ongoing support of the Ice Age Park and Trail Foundation Mobile Skills Crew (MSC) program.   

Next up on the MSC docket: Point Beach State Forest, Manitowoc County, September 14-17.  Like Table Bluff, the Point Beach project will establish a new section of the IAT and be an enjoyable contrast to the heavy muscle requirements you just experienced.  That project announcement will be emailed soon.  There is still some work to do at Table Bluff before we can officially open this segment to the public.  Please give a shout if interested in another helping.   

The hills and drifting valleys shrouded with mist blaze by afternoon; so the days pass when engaged with the land.
