June 1-4 - Trail Relocation and Chainsaw Safety Training - East New Wood State Wildlife Area (SWA), Lincoln County - IAT Thank You!

Walking out of the New Wood State Wildlife Area towards Conservation Avenue on the newly constructed section of the IAT Sunday afternoon National Trails Day weekend was a special moment; I knew I was on a path with purpose and one that brings definition to the phrase “National Scenic Trail”.  A few days later I received a letter from long-time IAPTF volunteer Herb Schotz, Northwoods Chapter Coordinator, which I think best expresses what you helped accomplish:

“…The volunteers who came together for the Mobile Skills Crew June 1-5 session in Lincoln County truly exhibit the ‘joy-of-trail-building’.  The need to do it right was noteworthy!  As Bruce Jaeck’s told me after his visit to the work site, ‘that is one eager bunch!’  They brought success.  As a result of this combined effort we now have in place about three and one half miles of certifiable Ice Age Trail.  It is a great example of a premier hiking trail and a goal for all to adhere.  Please pass my gratitude on to all that were involved on behalf of all those in the Northwoods Chapter.”

You make the difference.  My one follow-up request is: take a weekend and enjoy what you’ve helped accomplish.
