May 10-14 - MSC Crew Leader Training, Brunet Island State Park, Chippewa County - IAT Thank You! Hello, “Snapshot” is a game that asks us to imagine there is a stack of photographs laid out in front of us that where taken over the course of last weeks Mobile Skills Crew event. Everyone picks a photo and describes what is meaningful about it to them. If you were going to take only one picture home with you, which would it be? One image that might rise to the surface is that of about 80 volunteers gathered around a morning campfire in steady rain, coffee mugs in hand shifting left foot to right, appearing wrung out like wet rags cold and generally miserable, but… SMILING, LAUGHING, COMMISERATING with each other, READY to help with any task and ANXIOUS to be on the Trail. Wow. In a situation that would fold many a tent, yours held steady. Thank you for your perseverance and good cheer throughout a soggy week of Trail and friend building in Chippewa County. You left something special behind – the IAT – and we hope that you took something special with you from the experience as well. Many thanks to Thelma, Ed, and the tireless volunteers who rise before dawn and are still scrambling at dusk to fuel the fire that warms us; to Mike and Dave at Brunet Island SP, Steve and Eric from Colorado, and volunteer project team members Sharon, Brad, Keith, Mike, and Richard. When volunteers and partners put their hearts and minds together the Ice Age Trail is stronger today and for tomorrow. “Unfinished business” is not an often used phrase in MSC’s tour book. We’ll be back in October and will look for you then. Meanwhile, the wilds of Lincoln County call in two short weeks, June 1-4, National Trails Day weekend, and everyone is welcome. That project announcement will follow. Sincerely, The Volunteer Mobile Skills Crew Chippewa River Project Team, IAPTF Staff and DNR Partners |
