– John has a new
stove
Hi
Friends of the IAT,
Last
night as I was dozing off in my recliner after a hard day of partying at my
sister’s home in Waukesha, WI my cell phone went off startling me awake. It
was John on the phone calling from inside his tent some where near the
Riverland Conservancy (Map 42e) which is a few miles away from the start of
the Devils Lake Segment. John was calling to invite me to hike the Devils
lake Segment with him. Unfortunately, I couldn’t do that but I would still
be able to make him a supply run on Tuesday, July 4th.
This
past Saturday Sharon Dzjingle delivered to John a new can stove. Thanks a
lot Sharon! Also, thanks to the many people who responded to my call for
help.
John
reported that his feet are fine – no more aches and no more pain. He
reported lots of bugs!
We
need to get John his supply bag. The last I heard is that John Cramer from
Madison, WI has it. We need to deliver it to
Debbie Krogwold
at the Waupaca County Court House / Parks
Department. If anybody would be willing to deliver it let me know.
Debbie can be reached at (715) 258-6243.
When
I talked with John this morning he was at the Devils Lake State Forest where
the trail crosses Highway 113. John said it was pretty warm out. He
started walking this morning at 8:00 am. Luke passed him on the road,
stopped and they talked a bit.
Tomorrow I will head out early in the morning to visit John and figure I
will track him down between Devils Lake and Portage, WI. I’ll download his
pics to my lap top computer so we should be able to see some beautiful
photos on Wednesday.
Johns current needs are: Heet (for his can stove); water; dried meats; and
dried soups. He could also get into some Spam. He has his usual craving
for hamburgers or a couple of Egg Mac Muffins.
Happy Trails!
