John Bauer and Bill Rhodes - 2006 Ice Age Trail Thru Hike Journal 2006-06-28 / Wednesday 10:00 AM Status – What a view from the Magnolia Bluff County Park! Hi IAT Friends, John reported that the road walking involved to get to Magnolia Bluff County Park passes thru some stunning countryside, the best yet. Last night John set his tent up on top of the overlook in Magnolia Bluff County Park. Mike Guisleman stopped by to drop off some water and visit. Mike reported that John is doing just fine. The park is east of Albany, WI (Map 33e). John reported that he had about 2 hours of heavy rain while he was in his tent. The Eureka tent was dry as a bone on the inside. John’s blisters have healed up and are now calluses. John reported that he could use a new can stove, apparently he damaged the one he has, it’s still functioning but it will have to be replaced. I will contact Sharon Dzjingle to see what we can do for him. At the time of my call to John his location was on the Sugar River State Trail (IAT) where it crosses Highway 59 just north of Albany, WI (Map 33e). He got a late start today but plans on hiking until 8:00 pm or so. His day’s destination is the Brooklyn State Wildlife Area, Green County (Map 35e). Dan Wallace the segment monitor has agreed to help John out. I gave John Dan’s cell phone number so I expect John to call him. Happy Trails, Biscuit PS – Visit www.iceagetrailmsc.org |
