IAT Thru Hike

John Bauer and Bill Rhodes - 2006 Ice Age Trail Thru Hike Journal

10:00 AM Status – Log Entry For Day 3 – “What a blast tracking the boyz down”

Hi All,

What a great day with GPS Sal and the cell phone by my side!  Five
hours of driving thru some absolutely stunning country side along the
shore of Lake Michigan then thru rolling countryside dotted with farms
and Churches.   It was sunny, a few clouds and around 70 degrees.
Then it happened, I tracked the boyz down near the feed mill in Casco,
WI where the Ahnapee State Trail Crosses “C”.    John and Bill were so
happy to see me; it’s such a nice feeling to be wanted.  I picked up a
couple of double cheeseburgers and some large fries from Culvers, they
said they never had anything as tasty, imagine that.  Time on the
trail will do that.  I brought them some jugs of water, Mountain Dew
and four cans of spam. I recharged their cell phone, down loaded their
pics to my lap top and had John write a log entry which I will posted
to the internet.  Plus I gave them each $60.00.   They got rid of all
kinds of unnecessary gear to lighten their packs – things like a radio
and folding
chairs were left behind.   What was really important is I pumped their
spirits up a bit, I love doing that, that’s the main reason I went
today.   They were excited when I left today which is a good thing
since the next three days will most likely be the most arduous of the
whole trip.  They will be doing a lot of road walking which is tough
mentally.  They plan on being in Valders, WI at the fire department by
Wednesday evening.

Go to www.iceagetrailmsc.org and enjoy!

Happy Trails,

“Biscuit”
